MIssing library books
We still have several 6th graders who owe money to the library for missing library books! Please look under your beds, in your backpacks, lockers, closets, basements, etc. WE NEED THEM! It is their responsibility to take care of any books that they checked out. Ms. Duffy has been coming around. Students who do not pay fees or return books will not be able to go to the picnic.   HOMEWORK: Look high and low for any library books. Look for Mrs. Martin's class library books as well.
Picnic and field day
CLASS PICNIC IS ON Tuesday!!!!!! Tomorrow is Tuesday. We were going to change it to Wednesday because many students forgot to bring in their money. It is ok for them to still bring it in tomorrow. We will have snacks in the morning and then eat after our field day events.
Students brought home reminders last week to bring in $5.00 for our class picnic. They will have pizza, refreshments, and snacks. We will have field day after the picnic. Students should wear their PE clothes.
READING SOL Friday!!!!
Wear red for our reading Sol day:
Checklist for preparing:
1. Go to bed early
2. Eat breakfast
3. Bring a book to read for when you are done! (Watson's Go to Birmingham , your literature group book or independent choice)
4. Study island: Some kids made review sheets by printing out the lesson sheets for each of the categories. You may want to do this if you did not get pass a category the first time. Study island is not just for games. You can put it in game mode for practice, then put it in test mode and see how you do when you feel confident in that area.
Practice the subtopics that did not get pass the first time. If you got Pass the first time, work on getting advanced.
5.  There are practice test links right on our class page. Look on the right side at all of the practice test links. We've done several in class, already, but they are always available.
6. Look on the porter homepage when you scroll down. The Sol blueprints are available, as we talked about, and there are several released tests available for practice.
7. remember test taking strategies that we went over. Students were given a sheet in class with reading strategies and types of questions.
remember :plug it in for context clues, answer the question being asked, restate the question in your own words. Ex: What is paragraph one mainly about means mostly about in your own words. Select the best/Delete the rest!!!!!
8.  Have a positive attitude!!!!
SOL review on Thursday after school. Wed. is cancelled.
Next Year's VA choice book list is out!!!!
Ms. Duffy has announced that the Virginia Reader's Choice list is out for next year!!!!!!

Congrats Poetry Contest Winners!!!!
Three of our students were selected to be published in the Award Winning Writers of America Student Poetery Contest!!!!!!!! There work will be displayed by the cafteria Personal Best Bulletin board.

Seed Folks Centers
In class centers for Seedfolks will be due on April 21. We will spend class time working on these, and students are encouraged to work on these when they finish work early. It is important to use class time wisely. Students that do not use class time wisely will have to complete these at home before the due date, but there is another project (powerpoint) they are working on at home, so class time is very valuable!!!!! Work habits and making good use of time are very important as a middle school student.

We will be taking the Story activity (Seedfolk character) and making a podcast recording!!!!!!!
